Modern Kitchen Total Update

Location: Pittsburgh

Project Overview:

Client wanted to update a very cluttered dysfunctional kitchen, in their mid-century modern home.  The wife loved the colors of the Florida sunset, so the design was built upon that blue/orange color scheme. The family loves to cook together, so flow was very important.  A dog-legged island with stainless steel range and hood was installed to allow for family cooking activities and seating for enjoying meals.  Additional storage was added with a turned pantry cabinet next to the boxed in refrigerator.  A half wall was also installed on the back of the island section where range was installed, to provide safety from heat when cooking. Maple wood, flat panel cabinets where chosen to keep with the feel of the Mid-Century Modern style. Vinyl flooring was chosen in a neutral color for it’s durability in this very busy kitchen. Blue swirled glass pendants light up the island seating area. Ceramic tile in blue, with stainless steel accent tiles were used on the backsplash, to coordinate with the blue laminated counter tops and stainless steel appliances. A custom cornice in an Ikat pattern finishes off the room.
